Cranberry oil is not only the highest unsaturated oil around, but is also high in antioxidants, and for this reason is used in anti-aging products, as antioxidants help to eliminate free radicals, which cause oxidative stress which leads to premature aging.
Tocotrienols are one of the two groups of molecules belonging to the vitamin E family and they have an unsaturated isoprenoid or farnesyl side chain possessing three double bonds.

These tocotrienols have been shown to be highly effective in protecting the skin from stress caused by sunlight.

Cranberry oil if furthermore an excellent source of Omega-3, Omega-6 as well as Omega-9 fatty acids.
Although Omega oils are well known for the beneficial effect they have on your health when taken in supplement form, the topical application of these polyunsaturated fatty acids to the skin also offer great benefit - not only helping to moisturize the skin, but also helping to reduce inflammation and to strengthen the skin.
The only drawback was that good sources of Omega 3 and 6 oils came from fish oil – which is not that great smelling, and for that reason was never much used in skincare products.
But with cranberry oil, this has changed, as it provides these fatty acids – without a fishy smell – and is great to help nourish the skin and to improve moisture retention, and with this increasing skin smoothness, elasticity and suppleness.
It has a near 1:1 ratio between the Omega 3 and Omega 6 – which makes it an ideal oil to use. Omega 3 is highly nourishing when applied topically, but this function is radically improved when Omega 6 is also present.
Omega 3 fatty acids have been found not only to reduce the damage and aging caused by sunlight, but when applied to the skin, also improve collagen and the elastin fibers in the skin. REF 57
Omega 3 and 6 oils have also proven to be successful in the treatment of psoriasis as well as eczemas. REF 58 & 59
From all of the above it is easy to see why we have opted to make cranberry oil one of our anti-aging ingredients – since it works in great synergy with the rest of our carefully selected and formulated ingredients to create an anti-aging skin care range that delivers even more than what it promises.
